The police have intensified their search for the absconding wife, Nikita Sharma, and father-in-law, Nripendra Sharma, in the high-profile suicide case of TCS Manager Manav Sharma. As per reports, a reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced on both of them. Previously, a non-bailable warrant had also been issued against the duo.
Meanwhile, the Sadar Police Station also conducted multiple raids at various locations in pursuit of the father-daughter duo and another accused in the abetment of suicide case.
What Did Manav's Family Allege?
Despite multiple summons, Nikita failed to appear before the police, leading to the arrest of her mother and her sister on March 13.
Manav's family accused his wife and in-laws of harassing him over divorce proceedings. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased's father, the police registered a case against five individuals, including Nikita, who have been on the run since Manav's death.
Manav's sister, Akanksha Sharma, claimed that he was "threatened and pressured" by his wife, who allegedly warned him that obtaining a divorce from her wouldn't be easy and that his parents would suffer because of the same. Fearing prolonged legal trouble, Manav was deeply distressed.
Akanksha also disclosed details about her brother’s troubled marriage, stating that he was heartbroken after discovering his wife's previous relationships. She further alleged that despite marrying her, tensions escalated when he found out that Nikita was still in touch with another man.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Manav Sharma, the only son of Air Force retiree Narendra Kumar Sharma, was found dead at his residence in Defence Colony on February 24. Manav, who worked as a recruitment manager at TCS in Mumbai, had filmed a video on his mobile phone before hanging himself to death, in which he held his wife responsible for pushing him to take the drastic step.
Following the tragic incident, his father filed a written complaint at the Sadar Police Station against his wife Nikita and her family. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against them under charges of abetting suicide.
In an attempt to counter the charges, Nikita’s father approached the High Court on March 6, seeking a dismissal of the case and requesting an anticipatory bail. However, the court rejected his plea on March 12. Since then, the police have intensified their efforts to locate and arrest the accused.
