Tamil Nadu Budget Logo Controversy: CM MK Stalin Says ‘ரூ’ Symbol Reflects State’s Language Policy

In a video message, where he responds to prepared questions, answering about how his X post on the budget logo had become national news, Stalin responded: "Nothing. I had released the budget logo. We had put ‘ரூ’ in it to show how committed we are to the language policy. That’s all. But those who don’t like Tamil have made it a big news.”

Chennai: Days after the use of the Tamil letter ரூ in the Tamil Nadu budget logo instead of the ₹ symbol had triggered a nationwide political row, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Sunday made light of it sayin the Tamil letter was used to assert the State Government's language policy.

He said he had placed numerous demands on behalf of Tamil Nadu to the Union Government, such as release of funds such as for the MGNREGS, disaster relief and school education. “The Union Finance Minister, who did not respond to all of that, has spoken about this. She herself had used ‘ரூ’ in many posts. In English too, everyone writes Rupees as simple Rs,” he said adding, this appeared to be a problem for such people. “Overall, our budget is a hit at the Indian level, and Tamil is a hit,” he said.
