New Delhi: The body of 19-year-old Sneha Debnath, a Delhi University student missing for six days, was retrieved from the Yamuna River near Geeta Colony flyover on Sunday evening. Sneha Debnath, a resident of Paryavaran Complex in South Delhi, hailed from Tripura. She went missing on July 7.

Notably, a handwritten note was found in Sneha's room, which hinted that the student might have died by suicide. After the note, the Delhi Police filed a case at the Mehrauli Police Station.

"I just feel like a failure and burden, and it was getting unbearable to live like this," the last letter of Sneha read as reported by News18. "I have decided to end my life by jumping from the Signature Bridge," the letter added.

What Sneha Told Her Mother In The Last Call?

As per Sneha's family, she had called her mother at 5.56 am. The 19-year-old student had informed her mother that she would be accompanying a friend, Pitunia, to Sarai Rohilla Railway Station, reported News18.

However, when the student's phone was switched off by 8.45 am, her family became worried. However, later, it was confirmed that Pitunia had not met Sneha the morning when he went missing.

Sneha's family traced the cab driver who dropped her near Delhi’s Signature Bridge. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was also pressed into the search operation on July 9. "Investigation was taken up. The cab driver confirmed dropping her at the Signature Bridge. Technical surveillance revealed her last location was at Signature Bridge," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said in a statement.

Some eyewitnesses said they saw a girl standing on the bridge, reported PTI. "A joint search with NDRF and local police was immediately conducted from Nigam Bodh Ghat to Noida. Her close friends stated she had been upset for the last few months and had dropped emails and messages that morning. Teams on Sunday evening found the body of a woman and her family members in the river under the Geeta Colony flyover. Her family members identified her," the DCP said.

The 19-year-old student from Sabroom in South Tripura district was pursuing a BA in Mathematics at Delhi University’s Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College.
