Saharanpur: Two days after the tragic Sangatheda village massacre in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, Neha Rohila, wife of BJP leader Yogesh Rohila, passed away while undergoing treatment at Chandigarh's PGI Hospital.
As per a report by Dainik Bhasker, she succumbed to her injuries around 5:00 PM on Monday, March 25. Neha’s relatives, particularly her sisters, are demanding the death penalty for Yogesh, whom they accuse of intentionally killing her and their children. Her body is expected to be brought back to the village later tonight.
What Exactly Happened?
As per Dainik Bhaskar, the shocking incident took place on Saturday (March 22) afternoon in Sangatheda village. Yogesh, who has been associated with the BJP for a decade, allegedly shot his wife and their three children—Shraddha (11), Shivansh (4), and Devansh (6)—using his licensed pistol. While the children died on the spot, Neha was critically injured and rushed to a medical college, before being referred to Chandigarh PGI. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed after battling for 51 hours on life support.
After committing the crime, Yogesh reportedly called the police himself, stating, “I have shot my wife and children. Their bodies are inside the house.” The police arrived promptly, arrested him, and seized his weapon.
Postmortem Findings and Aftermath
A postmortem examination confirmed that all three children were shot in the head, with no other injuries. Their last rites were conducted on Sunday (March 23) in the presence of police. Neha’s sisters, overwhelmed with grief, have been calling for the harshest punishment against Yogesh. Meanwhile, his cousin has also been in shock since the incident.
During questioning, Yogesh claimed he committed the crime due to suspicions about his wife’s character. However, the brutal nature of the act has sparked outrage, with Neha’s family insisting on strict action against him.
