Meerut: Protests were held in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut after Eid prayers as people were stopped from offering Namaz on roads. Protesters also waved posters stating that "only Muslims do not offer namaz on the streets".

The poster mentions that even Hindus celebrate their festivals, including Holi, Shivratri, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi and Ramnavmi on the streets. The poster also reads Kanwadias walk on roads for pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, in UP's Moradabad, people engaged in a verbal argument with police when they were stopped from entering Eidgah to offer Namaz. Police stopped devotees from entering the Eidgah as a large number of people were present inside. After this, the namaz was offered again.

Visuals From Moradabad:

“Namaz has been offered everywhere peacefully. Preparations were done for the last 5-6 days. Some people wanted to offer Namaz at the Eidgah after the Namaz was offered. They had talks with the Imam, and now they are offering Namaz peacefully again. Currently, The situation is under control now,” Moradabad SSP Satpal Antil told reporters.

Security has also been tightened in UP’s Sambhal as the festivities of Eid-ul-Fitr got underway, especially outside the Shahi Jama Masjid, one of the prominent sites for Eid prayers.

Security personnel have been stationed in large numbers to maintain law and order during the religious celebrations. The security arrangements include tight surveillance, with police officers monitoring the area, along with barricades set up to manage crowds and prevent any untoward incidents.

Local authorities have also implemented traffic diversions and security checks to facilitate smooth movement in and around the mosque.

Eid Al-Fitr is a special occasion for Muslims worldwide. The festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan.
