Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised his administration's stance on providing equal development opportunities to Muslims, while insisting there will be no special concessions based on minority status.

In a recent interview with PTI, Adityanath clarified that while Muslims form 20% of the state’s population, they receive 35-40% of the benefits from government welfare programs. He also rejected accusations of discrimination or appeasement and reiterated his position on public conduct, particularly regarding religious practices.

Have a look at his statement here:

Defending the decision to restrict namaz on roads in Meerut, CM Yogi added, “Roads are meant for walking. Those who are speaking (against the decision) should learn discipline from Hindus.”

He further cited the peaceful gathering of 66 crore people in Prayagraj's Mahakumbh as an example of how religious discipline prevents lawlessness, stressing that those seeking benefits should also follow discipline.

The UP CM further criticised the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, claiming that Waqf boards had become centers of property-grabbing, rather than serving the welfare of Muslims.

He also questioned why Waqf properties, which are far more extensive than those owned by Hindu temples and mutts, have not been used for welfare purposes. He advocated for the proposed reforms, believing that Muslims would benefit in the long run.
