Red sanders worth Rs 2 cr seized; three smugglers held

Kadapa (AP): Red sanders worth Rs two crores being carried in two lorries were seized and three smugglers were arrested from the district this morning, police said.

At Ramapuram check post near Rajampeta, the officials of a joint team of police and forest department intercepted a lorry and seized red sanders logs worth Rs one crore.

Two smugglers were also arrested after the seizure, police said.

Besides, another lorry carrying red sanders logs, also worth around Rs one crore, was seized at Saraswathipuram near Kodur and one smuggler was nabbed in this connection.

A case has been registered, police said, adding that further investigation was on.
