Ranchi Weather Update: IMD Issues Red Alert In These Parts Of Jharkhand; Check More Details

Jharkhand has received relief from the extreme heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in some areas for Thursday, June 19, 2025. According to the meteorologist, this year, the southwest monsoon has entered Jharkhand via Santhal Pargana from June 17.

Ranchi: Jharkhand has received relief from the extreme heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in some areas for Thursday, June 19, 2025. According to the meteorologist, this year, the southwest monsoon has entered Jharkhand via Santhal Pargana from June 17. It has been raining intermittently in Ranchi and the surrounding districts since early Wednesday morning.

According to the IMD, the minimum and maximum temperatures in the city are likely to be around 22 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively. The humidity is likely to be around 97 per cent, and the gusty wind is likely to blow at a speed of 21 km/h. The rainfall is likely to be accompanied by lightning, thunderstorms, and squalls. The skies are expected to be cloudy and it will remain the same throughout the day.

Red alert has been issued

The weather department has issued a red alert for Jharkhand due to the expected heavy rainfall. This means the state should prepare for intense and potentially disruptive weather conditions. The IMD has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in numerous parts of the state. The rainfall is likely in Deoghar, Dumka, Pakur, Jamtara, Giridih, Dhanbad, Godda, Sahibganj, as well as the adjoining central parts, including Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Gumla, Khunti, and Bokaro.

A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in some parts of the southern part of East and West Singhbhum, Simdega, Saraikela Kharsawan, and the northwestern part of Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Koderma, Latehar, and Lohardaga.

IMD issued an advisory

The weather department has urged people to stay away from low-lying areas, avoid non-essential travel, and exercise caution on waterlogged roads. Farmers are advised to take precautions to protect their crops and farm assets from potential damage due to heavy winds and rain.
