Just a week before the Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit, the state government has approved the Rajasthan Integrated Clean Energy Policy aiming to increase the renewable energy capacity of the state to 125 GW by 2030. The Integrated Clean Energy Policy has been an integration of existing policies of renewable energy, biomass, and waste to energy and green hydrogen.

The Minister for Law Jogaram Patel said 'in accordance with the national goals of renewable energy, Rajasthan Integrated Clean Energy Policy-2024 has been approved by the government with an aim to increase renewable energy capacity of the state up to 125 GW by 2030.' The policy will promote floating, reservoir top and canal top solar power projects, large hydropower projects including pumped storage projects and small hydropower projects started after March 8, 2019.

The new policy also has provisions for allotment of government land to all renewable energy projects and parks, promotion of virtual PPA based solar power projects, carbon trading, energy efficiency and net-zero building.Patel said that under this policy, the registration fee for projects up to 10 MW has been reduced to Rs 5,000.  The policy will promote the energy storage as well.

A target has been set to set up energy storage projects including pumped storage projects and battery energy storage projects (BESS).  The policy aims to promote biogas, bio-CNG and set up green hydrogen valley for 2000 KTPA green hydrogen production by the year 2030, and set up electrolyzer manufacturing units of minimum 1 GW. Various types of benefits and exemptions will be given to BESS and Green Hydrogen projects, said the minister.
