Exploring a new dimension of tourism, the Rajasthan government is now focusing on medical tourism. The state cabinet has cleared the Medical Value Travel Policy (Heal in Rajasthan Policy-2025) to support this initiative.

"The state government aims to make Rajasthan a major medical tourism hub with world-class healthcare services and infrastructure. This policy will establish Rajasthan as an accessible, affordable, and reliable Medical Value Travel (MVT) destination,” said Cabinet Minister Sumit Godara, while briefing the media about the cabinet’s decision.

According to the draft of the proposed policy, the initiative seeks to promote economic development, employment generation, and global branding by integrating the health and tourism sectors. Under this policy, investors will be offered incentives through the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS), the Rajasthan Industrial Development Policy, and the Tourism Policy. Public-private partnerships with viability gap funding will also be encouraged.

Godara stated that the Heal in Rajasthan Policy-2025 will ensure the development of a digital ecosystem supporting MVT alongside quality healthcare services. Multi-specialty hospitals across the state will be upgraded to meet international standards.

The policy also proposes the promotion of traditional systems of medicine, such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, and Siddha, and the establishment of a dedicated MVT cell to certify MVT facilities and service providers. An MVT portal and mobile app will be developed, while advances in telemedicine, biotechnology, and app-based diagnostics will be encouraged. In addition, teleconsultation and multilingual helpline services will be introduced.

Notably, Rajasthan recorded a tourist footfall of 23 crore domestic and 20 lakh foreign tourists in 2024. With the new policy, the state government aims to double this number in the coming years.
