Jhalawar: At least six children reportedly lost their lives after a roof of a government primary school collapsed in Rajasthan's Jhalawar amid heavy rains in the state on Friday, July 25. Several other children are feared trapped under the debris of the collapsed roof of the Peeplodi Primary School.
Seventeen children were reportedly injured in the collapse. After receiving the information, authorities rushed to the spot. A rescue operation is currently underway. A JCB machine has also been pressed into the rescue operation.

Injured children were rushed to a nearby hospital. "Four children have died and 17 others are injured. Ten children have been referred to Jhalawar out of which three to four are critical," Superintendent of Police, Jhalawar, Amit Kumar told PTI. Locals are also helping authorities in the rescue operation.
Notably, Rajasthan witnessed heavy rains earlier this month. However, on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) again issued a heavy rain alert in the state for the next few days. Heavy showers are expected to lash Rajasthan till July 30.
Rajasthan CM Expressed Condolences:
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. The CM also instructed the authorities to ensure that the injured students receive proper treatment.
Expressing grief over the incident, Bhajanlal Sharma wrote on X, "The tragic accident caused by the collapse of a school roof in Piplodi, Jhalawar, is extremely sorrowful and heart-wrenching. Instructions have been given to the concerned authorities to ensure proper treatment for the injured children." "May God grant a place at His divine feet to the departed noble souls and give strength to the grief-stricken families to bear this immense sorrow," he added.
PM Modi's Message:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the tragic incident. The Prime Minister in a message also said that his prayers are with the recovery of those injured.
In a social media post on X, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) wrote, "The mishap at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is tragic and deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the affected students and their families in this difficult hour. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected."
