The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested former minister and Congress leader Mahesh Joshi for his alleged involvement in the ₹900 crore Jal Jeevan Mission scam during the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in Rajasthan.

Joshi was questioned for about six hours by ED officials and was arrested late Thursday evening. He was produced before the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Court, which remanded him to four days in ED custody.

Mahesh Joshi is a senior Congress leader and a close aide of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. He served as the Minister for Water Supply in the Congress government and has been accused of awarding tenders to companies that submitted forged experience certificates.

After his arrest, Joshi stated, “A case has been made against me. I have not done anything wrong and have not taken money from anyone. Action has been taken against me based on statements from individuals against whom I had taken action. I have full faith in the law and order of the country and hope to get justice.”

The central probe agency has already arrested four individuals in the case, including contractors who submitted forged documents to secure tenders and a close associate of Mahesh Joshi.
