Rajasthan: CM Ashok Gehlot demands fast-track probe of Udaipur beheading incident

Jaipur: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has demanded a fast-track probe in Udaipur beheading case and punishment for the guilty within a month. Gehlot reached Udaipur on Thursday to meet the deceased Kanhiya’s family.

After meeting the deceased’s family. Gehlot said ‘ our police did a good job, arrested the accused within hours and found international links, which is why NIA came into the picture. We appeal to take this case via fast track. We want NIA to be time-bound and punish the guilty within one month.’ On the questions of lapses on the part of Rajasthan police and intelligence, Gehlot said that now the NIA is investigating and everything will be covered in its probe.,

Before this CM Ashok Gehlot reached the deceased Kanhiyalal’s home and stayed there for about 20 minutes. He met with Kanhiyalal’s wife Jasoda and son Yash and handed over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh as financial assistance from the government to the family. His son Yash said that we have demanded security.’ My father was not provided with the security but we should be provided. We have been assured of the same. CM has provided us with financial help too. He has also assured me of a government job. He is cooperating with us and we are ready to cooperate too,’ said Yash to the media.

Bandh in Jaipur, peace march in Udaipur

The city of Jaipur observed a successful and peaceful Bandh in protest of the Udaipur beheading incident. The Bandh was called by Sarv Hindu Samaj and was backed by Bjp, VHP and RSS. All the market associations supported the Bandh and shops remained closed across the city. Medical shops, hospitals and petrol pumps were excluded from the Bandh. A heavy police force was deployed looking at the call and no unwanted incident has been reported.

Besides Bandh in Jaipur, there were protests in many cities including Udaipur where a peace march was organized from Sarv Samaj. Hundreds of people joined the march despite the curfew. The march reached the collectorate and handed over a memorandum to the Collector. Though some stone pelting took place when the march was returning and the police had to disperse the people.

Probe agencies raided a factory in Udaipur

In the meantime, there are reports that the probe agencies NIA and Rajasthan SIT have raided a factory in Udaipur. The Accused were taken under Police escort to the factory in Sapetia at Sukher, where the video was purportedly made. A comprehensive search operation was conducted at the factory and offices of this factory named SK Engineering, A person outside the factory told the media that police had come here with two masked persons and conducted a search in the office. As per sources, the video of the two accused circulating on social media was recorded at this premises and the arms used to effect the gruesome crime were manufactured here. Police and the investigating agencies have reportedly found more arms on the premises. ‘The factory and offices of SK Engineering have been seized and the owner of the factory Shoyed has been detained,’ said a senior police officer of Udaipur working with SIT.
