Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Rajasthan's Bharatpur, Ranjeeta Koli, on Monday went on a sit-in protest against illegal mining and claimed that her car was attacked by the mining mafia on Sunday in an attempt to kill her.

Koli alleged that he was pelted by the mining mafia after which the MP staged a sit-in for 8 hours at the Dhilawati police post. The incident took place at around 11 on Sunday night in the Kaman area of Bharatpur.

As per reports, the MP was going from Delhi to Bharatpur, and on her way, she noticed vehicles full of illegal mining stones at Levada near Kaman when the MP tried to stop the vehicles, the people sitting in the vehicles pelted stones on the car and fled away.

Koli reached the nearby police post Dhilawati police post and staged Dharna right then and there demanding the arrest of the accused involved in illegal mining work.

Following her dharna, Collector Alok Ranjan and SP Shyam Singh reached the spot and assured to nab the accused soon. After getting the assurance, the MP ended her protest Monday morning.

"I was attacked as I have been speaking against the mining mafia since the time I was elected. I received a call from the people of Kaman over illegal mining. When I reached, hundreds of trucks lined up were leaving. I asked my brother to stop the vehicle but we were pelted with stones and they also hit my car and broke its glass," said the MP.

Additional Superintendent of Police Raghuvir Kaviya said the MP, in her complaint, stated that she was coming from Delhi last night. When she tried stopping overloaded trucks, they ran away and pelted stones.

Commenting on the incident, deputy leader of the opposition, Rajendra Rathore said the attack on the MP is condemnable and it raises questions about law and order situations in the state.

"When an elected representative is repeatedly attacked, then what will be the condition of a common man? I demand that the culprits be arrested soon," said Rathore.

The MP has Y plus security and earlier, in 2021 as well, the MP was allegedly attacked which she claimed was by the mining mafia again. She is given security cover by the state government.
