Rahul Gandhi offers resignation in CWC meeting, not accepted by committee: Sources

After Lok Sabha elections debacle, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has offered his resignation at Congress Working Committee meeting, sources told news agency ANI. But his resignation has not been accepted by the Committee. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, ex-PM Manmohan Singh, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi among top party leaders at CWC meet.

Murmurs have already started within the party over taking responsibility for the poor performance of the Congress across the country, with some of its leaders already sending in their resignations. Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar and Odisha Congress president Niranjan Patnaik announced their resignations from the post in the wake of the party’s electoral debacle in their respective states.
