Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) late on Friday night received yet another threatening email – seventh such threat mail since July 14 last - to blow up the Golden Temple.
On Friday only, the Punjab police had detained a software engineer from Haryana’s Faridabad city for his alleged involvement in such threat emails sent earlier.
However, stating that security has been beefed up, the police said that several personnel in plainclothes have also been deployed outside the Golden Temple to thwart any untoward incident.
It may be recalled that the detention of the suspect, identified as Shubham Dubey, 24, a resident of Haryana’s Faridabad city, was termed as "partial success’’ in the said case and the commissioner of police (CP), Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, said the police has taken Dubey into custody for questioning and sent his mobile phones and laptop for forensic examination.
Bhullar said that the suspect, a B Tech degree holder, had worked with two software companies but was currently unemployed. He said that detention of Dubey is being seen as a partial success as crucial information from the internet service providers is still awaited in the context, he added.
