Roorkee: In a shocking incident, a firing and vandalism attack was reported at the office of Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar in Roorkee. Allegedly, former MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion, along with his supporters, arrived at the office and fired multiple rounds. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. A verbal spat between the sitting MLA Umesh Kumar and the former MLA had been escalating on social media prior to the attack, as per reports.
After the violent incident in Roorkee, the Uttarakhand Police have arrested BJP leader and former MLA Kunwar Pranav Champion. Champion had gone to the residence of Khanpur MLA this afternoon and fired indiscriminately. While being arrested, Champion claimed that this was an injustice being done to him. Further action is already underway, and Champion's arms licenses will soon be revoked.

Dehradun Police have detained former MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion and brought him to Nehru Colony Police Station for questioning.
The viral video shows three vehicles carrying the attackers, who opened fire indiscriminately at MLA Umesh Kumar's office in broad daylight. The sound of the gunfire echoed through the area, creating panic among residents. Bullet marks can be seen at multiple spots on the premises, and the entire incident was captured on CCTV.
Sharing the video of the incident, Umesh Kumar stated, "After facing a crushing defeat in yesterday's municipal elections, former BJP MLA Pranav Singh Champion, along with armed miscreants, fired several hundred rounds with dozens of weapons at my official residence today."
According to reports, the social media feud between Umesh Kumar and Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion over the past two days led to this violent confrontation. The attack caused chaos in the area, with residents in fear and commotion erupting on the streets.
Upon receiving the news, a heavy police force was deployed to the scene to control the situation. Supporters of MLA Umesh Kumar also gathered at the site, further escalating tensions.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are working to determine the motive behind the attack. In an effort to maintain peace and order, authorities have intensified security measures in the region.
Notably, the BJP has emerged victorious in the Uttarakhand urban body elections, securing wins in 10 out of 11 mayoral contests. The remaining seat was won by an Independent candidate, who is a longtime member of the BJP.
The Congress faced a significant setback, being wiped out in key cities including Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Roorkee, Kotdwar, Haldwani, Rudrapur, Kashipur, Almora, and Pithoragarh. In Srinagar, the mayoral position was clinched by an Independent candidate with former ties to the BJP.
