Police arrests spy in Amritsar for leaking sensitive information

Amritsar: Intelligence police in Punjab arrested a spy while in a separate incident paramilitary seize a huge cache of drugs coming from neighboring Pakistan.

In an apparent case of espionage, State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) of Police in Amritsar arrested a resident, who was an army clerk, Lovedeep Singh, for providing sensitive information to the Pakistan security agencies.

Official of the State Special Operations Cell, Harvinder Singh, said that Lovedeep Singh was providing restricted army documents, sketches and other vital information to the Pakistani agencies.

“We have arrested a person named Lovedeep Singh, who was working as an army clerk. We have recovered from him some restricted documents of the army, sketches of army areas and other information, which he was providing to the security agencies of Pakistan”, said the official.

According to the police, the army clerk was being groomed by his the handlers from Pakistan, allegedly for the past one and a half years.

Police have recovered photographs of restricted areas, classified army manuals and a handmade sketch of military installations from his possession.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel recovered seven kilograms of suspected heroine from intruders trying to get into Indian Territory from Pakistan side.

Senior Public Relations officer of Border Security Force (BSF), R.P.S. Jaiswal, said the intruders were trying to get into the Indian side using a pipe in the fence.

“Security officials detected around three or four persons who were trying to cross the border from the Pakistan side using a pipe in the fence. When our officials ambushed them, they challenged them and opened fire. Subsequently, our officials also fired in response to that”, said Jaiswal.

Jaiswal also added that seven kilograms of suspected heroine was recovered, but the intruders managed to run away.

“Using the darkness to their advantage, the intruders were successful in running away. When the pipe they were carrying was checked, we received around seven kilograms of suspected heroine in it”, said Jaiswal.
