A debate on Operation Sindoor is ongoing in the Lok Sabha and a similar debate is scheduled to take place in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, July 29. Parliament has allocated 16 hours in each house to allow a detailed discussion on the operation and its wider national implications.
Similar to Lok Sabha, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will open the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took a swipe at the Opposition during the discussion on Operation Sindoor, stating that focus must not remain on small issues when aiming to achieve a higher feat, since it can divert attention from national security.
"When the aim is to go higher, we should not pay attention to small issues because focusing on issues that remain comparatively small can divert attention from national security," Singh said.
He also criticised the choice of questions raised by the Opposition over time and opined that queries regarding the felling of Indian planes don't reflect the national sentiments correctly. Singh questioned the Opposition as to why they haven't asked about the destruction of planes on the Pakistani side, reported news agency ANI.
Gaurav Gogoi's Scathing Attack
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi launched a scathing attack on the BJP government during the debate, questioning the Centre’s handling of the Pahalgam terror attack and its aftermath.
Responding directly to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Gogoi accused the government of arrogance and failing to trace those behind the deadly assault that killed 26 people.

He criticised the Defence Minister for deflecting blame, saying, “If someone has to take the responsibility, it has to be the defence minister, you can’t hide behind the LG,” he said.
