Firozpur: The Border Security Force (BSF) killed a Pakistani intruder in Punjab’s Firozpur sector on the intervening night of May 7 and 8. The intruder reportedly tried to enter the Indian territory taking advantage of darkness.

The intruder is yet to be identified. "The individual was observed crossing the International Border and advancing toward the border security fence under the cover of darkness. Despite being challenged by BSF troops, the intruder continued to move forward, prompting the personnel to open fire," sources told ANI.

Following the incident, the body of the intruder was recovered at daybreak and subsequently handed over to local police authorities for further investigation, reported the news agency.

Notably, the border states, including Punjab and Rajasthan have been on high-alert in the wake of rising tensions with Pakistan post Operation Sindoor carried out by the Indian Armed Forces targeting nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Among these terror camps were headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Muridke. Hours after the precision strikes, India released videos of the destroyed terror camps and asserted that no civilian or military installations were targeted.
