The Indian Armed Forces repelled a large-scale Pakistani drone offensive targeting military installations across the western border, according to Colonel Sofiya Qureshi during a press conference held by MEA Secretary Vikram Misri on Friday.

"On the intervening night of May 8 and May 9, Pakistani army tried to attack military installations on the western borders. From Leh to Sir Creek, Pakistani army used drones for infiltration," Colonel Qureshi stated.

The coordinated attack involved between 300 to 400 drones targeting 36 different locations along India's western frontier. She said that Pakistan used Turkish drones to attack India.

Colonel Qureshi confirmed that all Pakistani attacks were successfully neutralized by Indian defense forces.

"In response to Pakistan's attack, drones were launched against four Pakistani military installations. One of these drones was able to destroy an AD (air defence) radar. Pakistan, however, used heavy artillery and drones to conduct attacks in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri, Poonch, Rajouri, Akhnoor, etc., injuring some of the Indian soldiers," she added.

India said that while targeting military installations across the western border, Pakistan used commercial airlines as a shield as it attacked India using drones last night. Colonel Qureshi displayed pictures of commercial flights flying when the attack from the Pakistan side was ongoing.
