Shopian: In a significant blow to Pakistan-backed terror operations, Indian security forces on Tuesday, May 13, neutralised three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district during a precision strike under Operation Keller.
The counter-terror operation was launched by the Rashtriya Rifles based on actionable intelligence about terrorist movement in the Shoekal Keller area.
Two Identified Among 3 Terrorists
Out of the three terrorists killed, two have been identified. According to sources cited by ANI, Shahid Kuttay, a Category-A LeT operative from Chotipora Heerpora, Shopian, had been active since March 2023. He was involved in multiple terror incidents, including the April 2024 shooting at Danish Resort, where two German tourists and a driver were injured. He also played a role in the assassination of a BJP sarpanch in May 2024 and was suspected in the killing of a Territorial Army jawan in February this year.
The second slain terrorist was identified as Adnan Shafi Dar, a Category-C militant from Wanduna Melhora, Shopian. He had joined the LeT in October 2024 and was responsible for the murder of a non-local labourer in Wachi on the same day he joined the group. The identity of the third terrorist is currently being verified.

Terrorists Eliminated Amid Ceasefire
The encounter comes shortly after the India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement, which followed the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that claimed 26 lives. India responded with Operation Sindoor targeting nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).
Despite the ceasefire pact, Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks across several Indian states, breaching the agreement within hours. Although Indian defences successfully thwarted the attacks, tensions escalated rapidly.
A senior Indian official stated, “Any future act of terror in India will be considered an act of war and will be responded to accordingly.”
