Kolkata: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has called Chief Secretary HK Diwedi to seek a report on post-poll violence.

“Extremely alarming law & order scenario @MamataOfficial. Security environment is seriously compromised. In such a grim situation called upon the Chief Secretary to brief me on the law and order situation on Monday 7th June and indicate all steps taken to contain post poll violence,” read the tweet of the West Bengal Guv.

Notably, despite an appreciation by the Calcutta High Court that Mamata Banerjee government was successful to curb the post-poll violence, even then the post-poll violence in West Bengal remained unabated.

On Sunday, due to the hurling of bombs a BJP worker died in Bhatpara. Several BJP workers in Jalpaiguri were also seen taking shelter in relief camps as the TMC supporters were seen tying the BJP supporters to a tree and beating them.

West Bengal BJP general secretary Sayantan Basu claimed that the police are mere spectators and are not helping the BJP supporters.

Notably, in another tweet, Governor Dhankhar urged everyone in West Bengal to unite to curb the violence and to restore democracy in the state.

“APPEAL TO ALL SANE MINDS IN WEST BENGAL TO RISE TO OCCASION AND CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS RESTORING LAW AND ORDER @MamataOfficial AND BELIEF IN DEMOCRATIC VALUES. YOUR SILENCE AT THIS JUNCTURE MAY RESULT IN SILENCING FOR EVER- LEADING TO A SITUATION OF HOPELESSNESS AND HELPLESSNESS,” read the tweet.

Meanwhile, slamming the Governor, Trinamool Congress spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh called the Governor to be an ‘insane old man’.

“The Governor has no work to do following the poll results; he is acting as a cadre of a political party. He is an insane old man. The less he takes to social media the better it is,” claimed the TMC spokesperson.

On the other hand, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra calling the Governor as ‘uncleji’ took to Twitter and said that several Officers on Special Duty (OSD) in Governor House are "family members" of the Governor.

“And Uncleji- while you’re at it- take the extended family you’ve settled in at WB RajBhavan with you,” read the tweet of Mahua.

In another Tweet the TMC MP urged the Governor to go back to Delhi and find another job.

“Uncleji only way WB’s “grim situation” will improve is if you move your sorry self back to Delhi & find another job. Some suggestions: 1. Advisor to Ajay Bisht YogiCM on how best to Thok Do opposition, 2. Advisor to Home Min on how best to hide during a pandemic,” read the tweet of TMC MP.

However, the BJP leaders found no problem in the Governor calling the CS.
