An assistant engineer working with Odisha's Electricity Department assaulted two journalists on camera when they were taking his reaction on an electrocution death, reported Odisha TV. The engineer was, as reported by the news outlet, was busy 'feasting'. Odisha TV has identified the assistant engineer as Jagannath Pati.
Odisha TV said in its report that its journalist went to Electricity Department office on Thursday (January 9) to take the official's quote over the electrocution death.
A man lost his life after coming in contact with a wire carrying 11 kv electricity.
It has been reported that Jagannath Pati was not physically present in the office at the time, so the journalists searched for him and he was found 'feasting' outside his office.
As the journalists approached Pati to take his comment, the assistant engineer objected and behaved aggressively which led to an altercation and after that, a scuffle.
In the video Odisha TV has published online, a shirtless Pati can be seen throwing punches at the journalists and even trying to grab their necks to subdue them.
It is not clear from the video alone whether journalists were able to counter the attack unleashed against them.

The news outlet has reported that after the scuffle, the journalists approached local police and lodged a complaint against Jagannath Pati.
There was no immediate comment from the authorities.
