Kolkata: Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to inform him about the post-poll violence and to make future strategies the BJP will adhere to in the Assembly.

After meeting Shah, Suvendu also met BJP leader Dinesh Triwedi and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.

Addressing the media, the LoP said that he had complained against the West Bengal government for having a separate portal for vaccination.

“Union Health Minister told me that the State Government has sent an interim report which he will forward to me. There’s only one vaccination portal - CoWIN. But the Bengal government had launched its own Benvax portal. I have complained regarding this. Minister accepted my complaint and ordered an inquiry on the same,” said Suvendu.

Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh stated that as Leader of Opposition Suvendu’s responsibility has increased for which he might have gone to meet the Union Home Minister.

“I have no idea what conversation took place between the Home Minister and LoP. I will get to know after I have a word with him,” said Ghosh.

Notably, no sooner did Suvendu meet the Solicitor General at the national capital, than the Trinamool Congress spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh took to Twitter and demanded immediate arrest of Suvendu for being involved in the Narada bribery scam.

“Why did the person whose name is in the FIR for taking bribes in the Narada scam meet the solicitor general? Is he trying to save himself through the BJP? He should be immediately arrested for being involved in the Narada scam,” read the tweet of Kunal.

Incidentally, a BJP MLA on anonymity confirmed to the Free Press Journal that the BJP has not filed any nomination for the post of Deputy Speaker in West Bengal Assembly.

“We haven’t filed nomination for the post of deputy speaker and moreover we will not take charge of any committees in the Assembly if BJP is denied the PAC chairman post and this post is mainly given to the opposition party,” said the BJP MLA.

According to BJP sources, it was learnt that despite rejoining the ruling Trinamool Congress Mukul Roy who is still the BJP Krishnanagar (North) MLA of BJP will sit the opposition camp in the House.

West Bengal Legislative Assembly is due to open on July 2.
