Manju has decided to return all the properties that were acquired jointly

Thiruvananthapuram : Mollywood actor couple, Dileep and Manju Warrier, has sought a hassle-free separation by filing a joint divorce petition before the Ernakulam family court in Kerala on Thursday.

The two arrived separately at the court at around 9 am and filed the petition before the family court judge in the chamber. While Dileep came to the court with his counsel, the 35-year-old actress was accompanied by her brother.

The mutual petition will allow the court to grant divorce within a span of six months without long arguments. The court will hear the petition on January 27. If the two insists on separation during counseling then, the court may grant the divorce.

Dileep had on June 5 filed a single petition seeking divorce on the grounds of torture.

He had also filed a petition seeking in-camera trial and bar on the media from publishing the contents of the original petition. Following the filing of joint plea, the petition has become infructous.

The joint petition is the result of an out-of-court agreement reached by the couple on the terms of separation. It is learnt that Manju has agreed not to seek alimony from Dileep. She will also not insist on the custody of their daughter, who will be free to live with anybody she likes. She is now living with Dileep.

There were also reports that Manju had decided to return all the properties that were acquired jointly by them during their 15 years of marriage. The couple had got married on October 20, 1998, when she was at the peak of her career.

She has appeared in 20 films in a brief span of four years. The films that won the hearts of the film buffs include ‘Sallapam’, ‘Summer in Bethlehem’, ‘Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu’, ‘Ee Puzhayum Kadannu’, ‘Aaram Thamburan’, ‘Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranaykalathu’ and ‘Thooval Kottaram’.

She had won several awards during her brief career. They included a National Special Jury Award, Kerala State Award and two Filmfare awards for her performance in various films. Manju staged a comeback to the film industry recently with the film, ‘How Old Are you’.
