NFIR opposes 100% FDI in Indian Railways

Ratlam : The issue of 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) by the Indian Government in Indian Railways was raised by the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) at the 43rd World Congress of International Transport Federation (ITF) held at Sofia, Bulgaria which concluded on August 17. Giving this information the Vice president of the NFIR and General Secretary Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh JG Mahurkar informed that the NFIR delegation was led by NFIR General Secretary M Raghavaiah. While speaking in the World Congress vociferously opposed the new pension scheme on Indian Railways and demanded immediate scrapping of the same. Raghavaiah said that Indian Railway is the Lifeline of the nation and he vehemently opposed the introduction of the 100% Foreign Direct Investment by the Indian Government in Railways.

The leaders of World Congress at Bulgaria supported the NFIR to evolve strategy to fight against FDI in railways, scrapping of new pension scheme, privatisation in the Railways and Liberalisation policies of the Government of India.
