New Delhi: On Saturday, February 15, a massive crowd gathered at the New Delhi Railway Station, all headed for the Maha Kumbh bath over the weekend. That night, a sudden announcement changed the platform for a Kumbh-bound train, triggering panic among the passengers.

Reportedly around 9:00 PM, chaos erupted as people rushed to catch the train, leading to a tragic stampede. By the time authorities intervened, it was too late—18 lives were lost and many were severely injured. In response to the mishap, security measures at the station have been tightened, with railway officials on high alert.

Amidst this, commuters witnessed a female RPF constable balancing two roles—her duty as an officer and as a mother.

Constable Reena performed her duty while having her 1-year-old child tied to her chest. Several videos of the incident went viral on social media, however, they met with a mixed reaction. While some netizens lauded Reena for her dedication, others criticized her for carrying a child in such a dangerous situation.

Taking to X, one of the users wrote, "Unfortunately, she is failing to deliver on her duties as both a mother and an RPF constable, a role for which she is remunerated. It is regrettable that such behavior is lauded and regarded as achievements and sacrifices, as we are emotionally susceptible."

Praising Reena, another user wrote, "Motherhood and Duty. Some Picture dont need words to explain. More power to this lady RPF Constable. Salute to her Dedication to service."

According to reports, the Delhi police have probed into the matter. DCP Railway KPS Malhotra is currently leading the investigation team. "If people don't rush unnecessarily, there won't be a catastrophic effect where everyone rushes. If disciplined behaviour is followed, there is a great chance for such incidents to be averted. Everyone is a capable decision-maker. If you feel that the rush is increasing, halting at that time is better than boarding the train," he told ANI.
