Chennai: Chennai: Nagaland Governor L Ganesan, who was associated with the RSS for many years and been active in the Tamil Nadu BJP, died in Chennai on Friday evening. Ganesan, 80, a bachelor, recently had a fall at his house and was admitted to a private hospital where he did not respond to treatment.

A friendly man, Ganesan maintained good equations with the DMK, though ideologically the Dravidian party was at war with the BJP. Ganesan had also headed the State unit of the BJP in the past and served as Rajya Sabha MP elected from Madhya Pradesh.

He was appointed Governor of Manipur and also held additional charge of West Bengal before he was shifted to Nagaland.
