MMRDA’s ‘simulation model’ to control traffic during Kumbh

Nashik:  The Simulation model of Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) will be used to manage traffic during the Kumbh mela to be held here and at Trimbakeshwar next year, Divisional Revenue Commissioner Eknath Davale said.

According to an official release issued here yesterday, the ‘simulation model’ of the MMRDA will be put in place to control huge crowd as well as vehicular traffic when royal processions will be taken out.

Davale presided over a review meeting to take a stock of the preparations for the biggest religious gathering of Hindus. In the meeting, MMRDA’s chief traffic expert Murty said that under the simulation model information of the crowd and its movement will be gathered, which will help in planning routes and managing traffic.

Deputy collector Mahesh Patil briefed about the parking arrangements to be put in place during the mela.

Davale said that officials are being provided proper training for disaster management at the Maharashtra Police Academy for the mela, while various development works like widening roads, making under ground drainages, construction of cement ghats on other banks of river Godavari were in progress.
