New Delhi: While Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was presenting Union Budget in the Lok Sabha today, this is the union minister’s eighth consecutive Budget, where she outlined the fiscal policies, revenue proposals, and taxation reforms of the government and made other significant announcements.
Sitharaman wore an off-white saree, gifted by Dulari Devi, a Madhubani artist from Bihar. The interim budget proposed Rs 26,000 crore for road projects, including the development of an industrial hub in Gaya.
"Vishnupad temple corridor and Mahabodhi temple corridor to be transformed into world class pilgrim and tourist destinations," Sitharaman said while presenting the Union Budget.
"On the Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor we will support the development of an industrial nod at Gaya in Bihar.It will catalyse the development of the easter region. We will also support the development of road connectivity projects- Patna -Purnea expressway, Buxar- Bhagalpur highway, Bodhgaya- Rajgir-Vaishali- Darbhanga and an additional two-lane bridge over river Ganga in Buxar for Rs 26,000 crores," Sitharaman said.
Plans also include new airports, medical colleges, sports infrastructure, and major tourism projects at Vishnupad and Mahabodhi temple corridors. In addition to this, the Centre also revealed a plan to thoroughly develop Rajgir and Nalanda.
