New Delhi: Speaking during the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha, Congress President and Leader of the Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, recited a heart-touching poem about the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians on 22 April.
"Mehandee vaale haathon ne pati ki laash uthaee hai." "Bebas rote bachchon ne paapa kee jaan ganvaee hai." Ashru bhare lachar khadi bebas nari ko dekha hai, Pahalgam ghati mein humne apno ko marte dekha hai," he recited.
Which roughly translates to,"Hands adorned with henna have lifted the husband's corpse." "Helpless crying children have lost their father's life."
" We saw tear-filled, powerless helpless woman, In the Pahalgam valley, we have seen our loved ones die."
"Along with the entire country and this House, I condemn the barbaric attack (in Pahalgam) and the continuous support to terrorists by Pakistan. We had condemned Pakistan earlier too, we will condemn them today as well and if this continues tomorrow, we will continue to condemn them. But here, we condemn them and you attend their feast and hug them," Kharge said during his speech.
Questions PM on National Security
Questioning the Prime Minister’s seriousness on national security, Mallikarjun Kharge said: "The Uri attack happened in 2016, Pulwama in 2019, and now Pahalgam… all of this shows there is a lapse in the country's security. I want to ask: who is responsible for this? Are they the ones responsible? Is this the Prime Minister’s idea of seriousness when it comes to national security?"
