Bangkok: A 25-year-old skydiver, Anamika Sharma, unfurled the 'Operation Sindoor' flag over Thailand's capital city on Thursday. Anamika skydived carrying the flag of “Operation Sindoor” in support of the Indian Armed Forces.

According to reports, she successfully jumped from a height of approximately 14,000 feet. The jump was executed at Drop Zone Thailand at approximately 11.30 hours IST, Hindustan Times reported.

Anamika jumped from a single-engine aircraft PAC 750XL. As per Anamika Sharma's father Ajay Sharma, the jump took place at Drop Zone Thailand at around 11:30 am IST from Khayo Yai, 150 km north of Bangkok.

Who Is Anamika Sharma?

She hails from Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. Her father Ajay Sharma is a former Indian Air Force (IAF) commando. Anamika Sharma and her father are the only father-daughter due, who are active skydivers in India, reported the media house.

She is the youngest skydiver in the nation to have the United States Parachute Association (USPA) certified ‘D’ category skydiving license. Anamika Sharma is also the only female skydiving coach in India.

She pursued her early schooling at Prayagraj and then at different schools across India. She completed her B.tech degree from Bengaluru. Anamika's father is her mentor in skydiving.

"I am very happy with this jump. This was my humble salute to the Indian Armed Forces and its brave soldiers who have always defended the nation against all threats and dangers," she told Hindustan Times.

"Op Sindoor has once again proved their sheer ability to keep the nation safe by taking on the enemy on their home turf,” Anamika added.

About Operation Sindoor:

On the intervening night of May 6 and 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor and targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan tried to attack Indian civilian and military installations. However, India's air defence thwarted the attack. On the intervening night of May 9 and 10, India hit 11 Pakistani air bases.

Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) on May 10 contacted his Indian counterpart and requested a ceasefire.

Earlier this year on January 6, Anamika unfurled the official flag of Maha Kumbh at the height of 13,000 feet in the sky ahead of the mega-religious event.
