Bharuch: The in-laws of a married woman allegedly demolished portions of six houses at Kareli village of Jambusar taluka in the Bharuch district after she eloped with a man. The houses belonged to the woman's lover and his relatives, reported The Times of India. The incident took place on Friday.
The woman's family took action after the man failed to bring the couple back. As per the TOI report, the woman's in-laws went to the man's neighbourhood and razed a toilet block and several structures of six houses. Six people including the driver of the bulldozer were arrested. The bulldozer was also reportedly seized.
As per the report, a week ago, Mukesk Fulmali allegedly went to the village of the woman’s parents in Anklav taluka of Anand district. He then eloped with the woman. After their daughter did not return, her family filed a complaint with Anklav police.

When the woman's in-laws learnt about the incident, they went to Fulmali's house and threatened her family to ring the couple back. One of the accused allegedly even slapped the man's sister. However, when the woman and her lover did not return, they went to his village and razed several structures of six houses.
The man's family approached the police. By the time, cops arrived, the accused managed to flee. "We have booked the accused for causing damage, causing hurt, unlawful assembly, criminal intimidation and breach of peace under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 324 (5), 189 (2), 191 (2), 190, 115 (1), 352 and 351 (3). Police have arrested the accused persons and seized the bulldozer," Vedach police station inspector told the media house.
However, the woman's in-laws claimed that they demolished only illegal construction outside the houses. The police have launched a search operation to trace the couple.
