Man dies in accident; mob attacks police station, torches

Purnia (Bihar): Four persons, including two policemen, were injured when a mob allegedly attacked a police station and torched a bus after a man died in an accident in Rapauli bazar area in Purnia district today.

The incident occurred when a speeding bus allegedly ran over one Hari Mandal and police had gone there to take the body and the bus in their custody this morning, SP Ajit Kumar Satyarthi said.

Soon a mob gathered outside the police station and pelted stones in the premises leaving four persons, including two cops, injured, Satyarthi said.

Some protesters later barged into the police station premises and torched the bus, he said.

Dhamdaha DSP Dilnawaz Ahmed has rushed to the spot with police reinforcement to bring the situation under control.
