Crores of devotees took a holy dip in the Sangam in the last one month during Maha Kumbh. People who travel from far-flung areas to Prayagraj to participate in one of the world's biggest gatherings feel joy after taking a dip in the Sangam. For 11 women and their families, their gaiety became even more memorable as they gave birth while at Kumbh.

According to Indian Express reports, so far 11 babies have been born at the Central Hospital, set up inside the Kumbh area.

13 hospitals and 10 first-aid posts have been set up in the Kumbh area to cater to the requirements of the Kumbh pilgrims, as per reports. A team of 105 people, including four gynecologists, run these medical facilities.

The Central Hospital is the only setup that is equipped with facilities to carry out deliveries.

Though Maha Kumbh Mela officially began on January 13, visitors have been gathering in the area since December. Central Hospital has been operational since the tent city came up by the Sangam in Prayagraj.

According to reports, the first delivery at the hospital took place on December 29. A 20-year-old woman from Kaushambi gave birth to a boy. Interestingly, the boy was named 'Kumbh'.

After Kumbh was born, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Brajesh Pathak congratulated the family. He told The Indian Express about the arrangements, stating that the 100-bed hospital near the Parade Ground in the Kumbh area is equipped with facilities such as an OPD, general ward, delivery centre, ICU, and an operation theatre. The hospital has separate wards for men, women, and children.

The last delivery reportedly took place at the Kumbh area on February 6, when a 30-year-old Barabanki woman gave birth to a boy.

The hospital has welcomed new mothers from diverse geographical and economic backgrounds. The patients include women from various Uttar Pradesh districts including Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, and Jaunpur, as well as those from neighboring states like Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Their economic circumstances span a wide range - from the spouses of temporary class 4 workers employed at the Kumbh site to members of affluent business families visiting the Kumbh with extended family groups.
