Pune (Maharashtra), August 13: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday told a court in Pune that he has a threat to his life from the complainant in the ongoing criminal defamataion case over his recent remarks against Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
There are reports that his lawyer has filed a petition in the MP/MLA court in Pune. In the petition, Gandhi has raised concerns over his safety. The court took the petition on record today.
As per reports from Jagran, the petition stated that Rahul Gandhi's security concerns have increased, especially after he exposed what he called the "vote theft". Rahul Gandhi's lawyer Advocate Milind Pawar mentioned in the plea that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader R.N. Bittu had allegedly called Rahul Gandhi a terrorist, while another BJP leader Tarvinder Marwah has issued an open threat, stating that Gandhi should "behave properly, otherwise he will meet the same fate as his grandmother."
'Complainant Has Links With Godse Family'
Milind further claimed that the complainant has family ties with both Savarkar and Godse families. He also mentioned that the complainant identified as Satyaki Savarkar could misuse his influence. As the background of the families has been associated with violent and unconstitutional tendencies, there is threat to Rahul Gandhi's life, said that lawyer.
