Kolkata: In much respite to the people of Kolkata, the youth whose sample was sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune has tested negative for monkeypox.
According to the reports, no trace of monkeypox was found in the samples sent for testing.
The private hospital where the youth is admitted said that the person will be given the treatment of chickenpox and will be released soon from the hospital.
In the wake of rising monkeypox cases in the Western countries and after the Central government’s guidelines, the airport authorities have also been directed to immediately isolate any passenger showing symptoms of monkeypox.
It can be noted that a youth from West Midnapore who returned from Europe a couple of days back has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata with symptoms like monkeypox.
According to the state health department, since the student has returned from Europe without taking any risk the blood sample and fluid taken from the pox were sent for testing which tested negative on Saturday.
