'KCR is scared to face PM Modi': BJP after Telangana CM skips to receive PM at airport

The BJP leaders and its ministers on Satursday strongly critcised Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport in Hyderabad and alleged that the CM has broken protocols.

PM Modi today reached Hyderabad to attend the Bhartiya Janata party's National Executive meeting. He was received by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and on behalf of the state government, Animal Husbandry Minister T. Srinivas Yadav accorded him a warm welcome. CM KCR gave a skip to receive PM at the airport.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reacting to this in a tweet wrote, "Breaching protocol on purpose yet again, Telangana CM has insulted the institution of both that of a CM and PM."

"KCR can hide but his corrupt politics will not remain hidden," he said further in the tweet.

While BJP MLC, N Ramchander Rao said, Telangana CM KCR is scared to face the PM.

"If PM or President arrives at airport, CM of that state should receive them, this is a protocol. Breaking this convention is not right, we should respect the PM, he is the PM of the country, not only BJP," he told news agency ANI.

After landing at Begumpet Airport in the city, PM Modi left for Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), the venue of the meeting, by helicopter.

After reaching Hyderabad, Modi tweeted that he landed in the dynamic city of Hyderabad to take part in the national executive meeting of the BJP. "During this meeting we will discuss a wide range of issues aimed at further strengthening the Party," he wrote.

Senior leaders of BJP received Modi, then left for the venue in a helicopter. After landing at the helipad near HITEX, he reached HICC by road.

A thick security blanket has been thrown around HICC for the meeting, which began at 4 p.m.

About 350 delegates, including BJP national president J. P. Nadda, several central ministers, chief ministers of 18 states, presidents of BJP's state units and other leaders are attending the meeting.

On the first day the meeting is likely to continue till 9 p.m. The Prime Minister will stay at Novotel hotel abutting HICC. Some other key leaders will also stay at the venue.
