Karnataka govt introduces 'Bal Seva' scheme; guardians/caretakers to be given Rs 3,500 per month

Karnataka govt today announced Bal Seva scheme which has slew of measures for children related to their education, career and future prospects. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announcing the scheme said that an amount of Rs 3500 as financial assistance will be given to guardians/caretakers of the children per month.

For children who do not have guardians put in child care institutions and for quality education they'll be admitted to model residential schools, the CM said.

Besides, the CM also said that children who have finished standard 10th, to them free laptop/tab will be given for higher or vocational education while girls who have completed 21 yrs of age, Rs 1 Lakh will be given to them for marriage, higher education, self-employment.

For a child's overall development, mentorship will be given, he added.

On the other hand, today Prime Minister Narendra too announced relief measures for those children who have orphaned during COVID-19. He said that children represent the future of the country and the country will do everything possible to support and protect the children so that they develop as strong citizens and have a bright future.

All children who have lost both parents or surviving parent or legal guardian/adoptive parents due to Covid 19 will be supported under ‘PM-CARES for Children’ scheme. He also added that the measures being announced have only been possible due to the generous contributions to the PM CARES Fund which will support India’s fight against COVID-19.
