J&K: 2 Indian Army Jawans Killed In IED Blast In Akhnoor; Search Operation Underway

The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army stated in a social media post on Tuesday that two soldiers were killed in a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast reported from Laleali in the Akhnoor Sector.

Taking to X, White Knight Corps said, "Suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast reported in Laleali in Akhnoor Sector, J&K during a fence patrol resulting in two fatalities. Own troops are dominating the area and search operations are underway. White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers."

Notably, the incident comes days after days after suspected militants hiding inside forests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) opened fire on Indian soldiers patrolling on their side of the LoC in Rajouri district on Saturday afternoon.

The Indian troops patrolling a forward village in Keri sector retaliated.

However, there had been no casualty on the Indian side, sources said, adding that the anti-infiltration grid in the area was immediately strengthened and vigil heightened in the area.

The Congress party has reacted to the incident and expressed condolences for the martyrs.

In a post on X, the Congress party stated, "Sad news has been received about the martyrdom of two soldiers in an explosion in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. There are also reports of one soldier being injured in this incident. We pray to God to grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the grieving families to bear this loss. In this difficult time, the Congress family stands in solidarity with the families of the martyrs. Tributes."
