Reviving a 250-year-old royal custom of 'Jaipur Ki Jyonar', the business community of the city organized a grand feast for 50,000 people on Sunday. Attendees enjoyed traditional Rajasthani food—dal, bati, and churma—for just ₹20 per person.

This grand feast was an initiative of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation Mayor Kusum Yadav, who, with support from the business community of the walled city, invited the public to participate in the event.

“The purpose of this event is not just to serve food, but to celebrate social harmony and the cultural heritage of Jaipur, where people of all castes and classes sit together and enjoy a meal,” said the organizing committee.

The feast was arranged in three large waterproof domes, where 4,000 people were served dal, bati, and churma at a time.

According to the organizers, 300 halwais and 200 support staff prepared the food using 12,500 kg of flour and gram flour, 1,500 kg of lentils, 1,200 kg of mawa, 160 tins of desi ghee, and other spices.

Entry to the event was through coupons, which had been distributed earlier at temples and major locations across the city.

Organising committee member Kailash Mittal said the Jaipur business community had taken up the challenge to revive the 250-year-old tradition known as 'Jaipur Ki Jyonar', where people of the city were invited by the royal family to partake in a communal meal.

Mayor Kusum Yadav said, “The people of Jaipur participated enthusiastically and made the event a grand success. Given the overwhelming support, we plan to organize this program every year to keep the centuries-old tradition of our city alive.”
