Kolkata: Infighting in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was again seen in an organizational meeting chaired by West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh in Bongaon on Friday.

Three out of six BJP MLAs and BJP MP of Bongaon constituency Shantanu Thakur didn’t attend the organizational meet.

Three BJP MLAs Ashok Kirtania, Subrata Thakur and Biswajit Das also didn’t attend the organizational meeting.

According to BJP sources, Biswajit had earlier informed the district leaderships that he couldn’t attend the meet due to health issues.

“Though Biswajit had earlier informed that he wasn’t well but the actual reason of Subrata, Ashok and Shantanu’s reason for absence wasn’t known to anyone,” said the BJP sources.

It can be recalled that Shantanu had earlier shown dissent towards the BJP-led Central government for not implementing CAA in West Bengal.

Later, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya and the then BJP leader Mukul Roy visited Thakurnagar and had convinced the BJP Bongaon MP that due to the ongoing pandemic implementation of CAA is being deferred.

Meanwhile, according poll analysts due to the poll debacle of the BJP several leaders especially the turncoat leaders are showing dissent towards the saffron camp.

Notably, Thakur family has been extremely close to the ruling Trinamool Congress and due to the BJP’s promise of implementing CAA in West Bengal Shantanu Thakur had defected to the BJP and became the Bongaon MP in 2019 with huge mandate.
