Jammu: Indian Armed Forces reportedly shot down Pakistani fighter jet on Thursday (May 8). As per reports, tensions flared today evening as India shot down Pakistani F-16 fighter jet after it attempted to attack Jammu. There are also reports that India also shot down two JF-17s after Pakistan retaliated after India's Operation Sindoor.

Pakistan had fired multiple missiles targeting key locations in Jammu and surrounding areas, but all were intercepted by India's powerful S-400 air defence system.

According to officials, eight missiles were launched from Pakistan. The targets included Jammu Civil Airport, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia and nearby areas. All of these missiles were blocked mid-air by the Indian air defence systems.

A senior Jammu administration official said, “It’s normal now. The blackout is only a precaution.” Electricity was cut off and complete black out was enforced in Jammu and adjoining areas as a safety measure.

Meanwhile, a swarm drone attack on Jammu Airport was also foiled. Similar drone attempts were reported and neutralised in other locations, including Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.

As per reports from India Today, Pakistan’s biggest move was an attempt to fly an F-16 fighter jet from Sargodha towards Jammu, but it was intercepted and shot down before it could cause any damage. The Indian Armed Forces responded swiftly and decisively.

People in Jammu and nearby regions have been advised to stay indoors and follow all safety guidelines issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the government.

India’s defence forces remain on high alert as the situation continues to be closely monitored.
