The Indian government is mulling over canceling the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, according to reports. An official announcement may be made soon, CNN-News18 reported, citing government sources.

India is considering this move as Pakistan has failed to uphold its commitments along the Line of Control and the International Border.

This strategic action could further isolate the neighboring country, serving as a response to Islamabad's continued duplicity.

Despite the February 2021 ceasefire agreement, terror organizations based in Pakistan—including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and The Resistance Front—continue to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has violated the ceasefire through sniper attacks and shelling, with such incidents increasing between 2023 and 2024.

Meanwhile, after the conclusion of all-party meeting convened by the Centre in Delhi over the Pahalam terror attack, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju told media, "The Defence Minister informed about the incident that happened in Pahalgam and the actions taken by the Indian government in the CCS meeting. This incident is very sad. Due to which everyone in the country is worried, keeping this in mind, the Indian government has also expressed its intention to take more stringent action today..."

After attending the meeting, Congress MP and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi said, "Everyone has uniformly condemned the incident and the opposition has fully supported the government in taking any action"
