New Delhi: A Bali-bound Air India flight, AI2145, was advised to return to Delhi on Wednesday due to reports of a volcanic eruption near the destination airport. The flight safely landed back in Delhi. All passengers deboarded the plane.

“Air India flight AI2145, on 18 June 2025 from Delhi to Bali was advised to return to Delhi due to reports of volcanic eruption near the destination airport Bali, in the interest of safety. The flight safely landed back in Delhi and all passengers have been disembarked,” an Air India spokesperson said in a statement.

Passengers have been provided with hotel accommodation, Air India said as reported by News18. The airline further added that it also had offered full refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling.

Notably, several flights have been cancelled to Indonesia’s Bali due to eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki. The eruption reportedly took place on Tuesday on the eastern island of Flores. Authorities have sounded an alert in the nearby areas.

“The height of the eruption column was observed at approximately 10,000 metres above the summit. The ash column was observed to be grey with thick intensity,” the volcanology agency said as reported by The Guardian.

So far, there are no reported of any casualties or collateral damage.
