Kaisarganj: A video has surfaced of former BJP MP from Kaisarganj, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, in which he candidly recounts his school days, admitting he failed in Class 8 for two consecutive years and eventually passed only after threatening a fellow student to write the exam on his behalf.
"I failed in Class 8 twice in a row and I failed in such a way that I was at the top from the bottom. I only passed in the sports subject," he told an audience of students.
Recalling his academic struggles, he added, "I managed to copy and pass in the other subjects, but when the English paper came, I became very nervous."
Sharing the full extent of the incident, he said, "There was a fellow student named Ashok Tiwari, who is no longer with us. I asked him to write my paper first, as I had already failed twice."
"He refused, saying, 'Should I write your paper or my own?' I responded, 'If you don’t write it, I’ll break your arms and legs once we’re out of the school gate,'" Singh said in Bhojpuri.
He went on to say that Ashok eventually agreed to write the paper for him, and a policeman even helped him, reportedly saying, "He’s not good at studies, but he’s good at sports, he should be helped."
Singh explained that he asked the fellow student to write the answers in pencil so that he could trace over them with a pen, to avoid suspicion due to handwriting differences.
He passed the exam, but despite this, he confessed to being deeply unsettled by the experience. "I couldn't sleep that night. Lying under a neem tree, I kept asking myself: where did things go wrong?"
