How to be prepared for landslide? NDMA releases list of do's and dont's - Check here now

There is often not much idea about how one should be prepared when landsliding occurs. As monsoons have already hit many parts of the country, landlsiding is bound to happen especially in rural areas. In a bid to protect yourself from situation, National Disaster Management Authority has issued a guide on do's and dont's for landslide.

The advisory contains a list on how to prepare for landlside, what to follow when comes, how to prepare oneself post the landslide among others.

What to do before landslide?

Grow More trees that can hold the soil Together

Listen to radio, watch TV and newspaper for any alerts

Keep drains clean, keep holes open

Watch out for any warming signs such as subsidence of building, cracks on rocks muddy river water.

Do not construct near steep slopes and near drainage

What to do during landslide?

Stay calm, do not panic

Ignore rumours

Stay together with your companions.

If you notice any warning signs

such as unusual sounds like trees cracking or boulders knocking together.

Move away from lands path or downstream valle quickly

Inform nearest Tehsil District

What to do after landslide?

Do not touch/ walk over loose material and electrical wires or poles

Move away from landslip path and downstream valley quickly.

Check for injured and trapped person

Do not move an injured person without rendering first aid unless he/she is immediate danger.

Do not drink contaminated water directly from rivers, springs, wells etc.
