'Haryana Govt Stands With Farmers,' Says Governor Bandaru Dattatraya In Budget Session

Speaking about various welfare schemes for the poor, Mukhya Mantri Teerth Yatra Yojna, Dattatraya said that more than 11.64 lakh people from Haryana visited the recent Maha Kumbh free of charge.

Chandigarh: Haryana governor Bandaru Dattatraya in his address on the first day budget session of state assembly on Friday, reiterated the state government's commitment for the farmers’ welfare.

While stating that the state government is committed to have its legitimate share of water from Ravi-Beas rivers and completing the Sutlet-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, he said efforts for the construction of Renukaji, Kishau and Lakhwar Vyasi dams on the upper reaches of Yamuna river.

Further highlighting the state government’s initiative for farmers’ welfare, the governor said that Haryana is the only state in the country which procured 24 crops on minimum support price (MSP).

Under the 'Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana', claims worth over Rs 8.7K crore have been paid to 34.57 lakh farmers. Over the past decade, farmers have also received compensation of Rs. 4,872 crore from the government treasury, he added.

GOVT JOBS GIVEN TO OVER 1.75 LAKH YOUTHS

Stating that over 1,75,000 youth have secured government jobs in the last 10 years on merit, the governor held that this shift has ushered in a new era of transparency in government operations. In addition, services of approximately 1,20,000 contractual employees have been secured until their retirement.

HOUSING FOR POOR

Dattatraya said that under the 'Deendayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana,' Rs 840.90 crore has been disbursed to 22,585 families who have faced the tragic loss or disability of a member due to accidents. In addition, over 13 lakh poor families have been provided with gas cylinders for Rs 500 per month.

BUDGET ON MARCH 17

Meanwhile, according to information, the budget would be presented in the House on March 17 while the budget session would continue till March 28. The opposition parties have threatened to gherao the ruling BJP on the issues of paper leaks, unemployment, deteriorating law and order situation, illegal mining and the demands of farmers.
