On a day when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated major action against the controversial Sandesara Group of Vadodara, two of its own officials were on Friday arrested in Ahmedabad by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in an alleged corruption case.

Official CBI sources said two senior officials were caught red-handed while accepting Rs 5 lakh as bribe through angadia service (local informal courier agents) as the first tranche of a Rs 75 lakh kickback.

The arrested officials have been identified as P.K. Singh, posted as Deputy Director, and Bhuvanesh Kumar, posted as Assistant Director with the ED in Ahmedabad.

It has been alleged that they had demanded Rs 75 lakh from the complainants to settle a bank fraud case. Further investigations are on.
